So often we hear ‘this is the ONE’ thing you need or must buy. Whether from a friend or a magazine editor – everyone’s got their ONE night cream, lip gloss, or laundry detergent that’s the all-time best, can’t-live-without, must-buy-now. Right?
I’ll admit I love the discovery of trying new things – especially anything deliciously healthy – but I’ve wised up over the years, learning that when something works, there’s no need to change it.
Which brings me to my own list of ‘Ones’. From the tastiest tortilla chip to the candle I always have in my home, I’m sharing my favourites here. Whether or not you take the leap and try ONE for yourself, it’s up to you. But I wish you fun in the discovery!
Best Tasting, Guiltless Chip
Other than my weakness for rose champagne, salty, crunchy snacks are my thing. From salt and vinegar chips to skinny pop popcorn, I’ve gone through the rounds. My best and latest find however, goes to these tortilla chips by Siete Foods. Not only are they light tasting and deliciously crisp, they’re also gluten free, grain free and paleo-friendly too. I’m ordering by the case now – that good!

Clean, real food ingredients, no junk or B.S. These RX Bars are the bomb (!), and why you’ll find one in my carry-on every time I travel. They also come with me to the race track to watch my son – any country, any time or place. My son’s hooked on them too and orders them to the UK. #beprepared.

Candles play a big part to my home décor, my mood, my being. For ones that are reasonably prices and always in-stock, I love this Capri Blue by Anthropologie. Not only do they warm a room with delicious scent, their pretty glass jar makes them eye-friendly and gift-friendly too.

My friend Dina always has her pulse on the best beauty stuff. So when she let me try her deodorant by Donna Karan cause this Gorgie forgot to pack her own for a girls weekend, I figured it had to be good. And oh my, it is! Worth the online hype and higher price point versus others. Contains a subtle scent that’s light and clean, goes on smooth. Love.
Most Ah-maze Shampoo
When you have a thick, thick mane like my daughter, one could easily kill a bottle of shampoo in days! Thankfully, I found this one by Nature’s Gate. Not only is it free of any harsh chemicals or parabens, its gentle ingredients including chamomile, mimosa bark and Vitamin E are ideal for damaged hair, leaving locks smooth and healthy. It’s also very affordably priced too.
Best Everyday Foundation
Since discovering this foundation by Vapour, I’ve been hooked ever since. Containing a combination of dry plant oils and organic minerals, it pretty much melts into the skin, creating a subtle radiance while reducing appearance of pores, fine lines or wrinkles. A little goes a long way, and I’m never without it.
For Luminous, Night Time Glow
To up my evening look, this tinted luminizer by Le Metier is the ultimate foundation for a soft, radiant finish that doesn’t look cakey or heavy. I also like the fact it contains retinol – the hallmark ingredient for anti-aging – plus SPF for added protection. Precisely what this Gorgie needs to keep her skin beautifully protected 24/7.
For Make-You-Happy Lips
It’s bright, it’s pink, and it makes me happy. It’s a lipstick, yes. And I adore Electric Taffy by GEE Beauty. Call me old fashioned, call me old school glam. I say if it works, why change it? Precisely why you’ll find me wearing this bright pop of pink every day.
Hair and Nails, Oh My
They say the secret to beautiful hair and nails begin within, and since finding this supplement at Boots in the UK, I’ve been taking it daily. Containing biotin, zinc and healthy B-vitamins, I can honestly say my hair and nails grow and grow, with no breakage or splitting. Something’s working here!
Most Comfortable Run Apparel
It’s a high performance tennis skirt, yes. But it’s also the most comfortable thing to run in, which I do daily. Made by Michi, I throw it in the wash a few times a week, and it holds-up fine. Now if only it could make my run times a bit faster – and feel a pinch less painful too😊.
The Ultimate Hair Brush
It’s pricey alright but I’ve owned my Mason Pearson hair brush for over ten years and honestly, it’s worth every cent. And no wonder, as according to its website, its unique rubber-cushion pad is still made by hand and each handle is hand-polished. I also use it on my daughter’s huge mane of curls, the best.
