When Gorgie Wellness first launched, I made sure to include a post about yoga. Along with being a Mum to four wonderful kids, yoga changed my life in the most profound, most rewarding of ways. So much, that for years I dreamed of opening my own studio. Well, fast forward to today, and I’m beside myself over-the-moon excited to share that SOL YOGA is here!
After months of design and construction, building permits, delays, meetings and more meetings with my design team and building manager – I’ve managed to stay the course, trust the universe and be as patient as I can be. Not to mention put aside the self-doubting thoughts and worry over adding yet another business to run!
If you wait until your ready – you’ll never be ready.
This isn’t a new concept by any means, but it certainly holds true for me. I most definitely had days when I thought maybe I should hold off, not pursue SOL and focus on my other work instead. But once I dropped the thinking of ‘everything’s got to fall into perfect place’, did doors begin to open. Such as beautiful space becoming available – when another had fallen through. Or not signing-on with partners, as my intuition said ‘they’re not a good fit’.
You’re more than you think you are.
We all have our stories that we tell ourselves. And sadly, many of us carry stories that are rooted in negative thoughts from our past and have nothing (nothing) to do with the here and now. Only when we can drop the voice, or better yet, let the voice say what it wants to, but completely disregard it, do we see our lives as our own. Life is working for us, not against us. So drop the un-necessary baggage from yesterday. It’s gone, over, period. See today as an opportunity to do what really matters most to you instead.
If you want to fly, you have to let go of shit weighing you down.
For me, this meant dropping the notion of partnering with other yoga people. The weight of dealing with contracts, rights and legalities, not to mention compromising on my vision and what I wanted SOL to be, was TOO much. I had to let go of this thinking and once I did, low and behold a new space came my way, and I was off to the races getting the plans in order on my own! Scary but totally exhilarating all the same, and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Now weeks away from opening my first SOL YOGA (I say first, as there’s more to come!), I am feeling anxious I’ll admit, but at the same time, so incredibly grateful to be right here and now. I’ve got a small, dedicated team to support me, and have hope that no matter what’s around the corner, we’ll be just fine.
That’s the yoga way after all: Breathe. Focus. Be thankful. See the light. Carry the hope. It’s all good Gorgie. It’s all good! Namaste.
