With two of my kids based in London (one of whom, travels the world most months of the year) along with family vacations, and my recent love for solo-trips, I’m proud to say I’ve become a better packer over the years. “Better” being the key word here, as I’m still working on it.

Regardless of where I’m going however, I’ve learned there’s a handful of staples I absolutely can’t leave home without. So long as I have these items, I can board the plane semi worry-free.

What to Wear:

Basic Black Leggings. Day to night, plane to yoga studio, black leggings are a must. Paired with a t-shirt, a blouse or blazer, you really can’t go wrong. Any pair such as these Motos by Koral gets my vote.

A Silk Scarf. For an injection of colour and timeless style, nothing beats a beautiful silk scarf like this one by Hermes. There’s a reason European women wear them as often. They’re practical as they are chic.

A pair of Trainers: For walking and shopping and everything in-between, these trainers by Golden Goose go perfect with black leggings or white jeans – not to mention are crazy comfortable and don’t scream tourist.

Gold locket necklace. A Mother’s Day Gift, this necklace from Loquet London features a gold heart locket. Inside, special charms chosen my kids. Sentimental and so versatile, I wear it everywhere.

Good Reads:

The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate is an award-winning story about a Silverback gorilla named Ivan who lives in a cage at a mall. The novel is written from the point of view of Ivan – and it’s brilliant.

My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante is a rich, intense story about two friends, Elena and Lila. Set in Naples during the 1950s, Ferrante weaves a most engaging story about their relationship as their nation undergoes momentous change.

Beauty & Skin:

Hydrating face mask by SK II. For dry, jet-lagged skin, we’ll put one of these masks on for ultimate hydration relief. Not to mention a chance to put our feet-up and order room service.

Tinted SPF 50 compact, by Avene. Free of parabens and fragrances, this compact is what every face needs for maximum SPF protection, plus a hint of sun-kissed colour.

Red Roses Room Spray, by Jo Malone. Because we can’t pack our favourite candles, or count on fresh flowers in our hotel room, we’ll spray this beautiful lovely for scent-sational bliss.

Clarity Make-Up Remover by Vapour. Rich in organics like borage and jojoba oil, it gently removes all traces of make-up – even stubborn eye liner, leaving skin baby soft and plump.

RHA Micellar Solution by Teoxane. This pre-cleanser knocks it out of the park for its combination of anti-aging hyaluronic acid and soothing rose water.

Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Gel by Ren. Following our pre-cleanse, we’ll finish with this rose water infused gel. Soothing and hydrating, it clarifies and minimizes pores. Like baby skin delicious.

Rejuvenating Face Serum by Joanna Vargas. Before turning down for the eve, we’ll apply this anti-aging, anti-inflammatory serum for over-night relief.  And let’s be honest, to turn over some new cells please too.
