With Fall approaching and a time for renewal, I couldn’t think of a better time to re-create a vision board.
It’s something I’ve done over the years, however this time, I went big! Like super-sized, with a colourful collage of photos, clippings and mantras that speak to my soul, and what I hope to attract in the coming year ahead.
With a busy household to manage, on top of running a business and two yoga studios on the horizon, one might ask why? And my answer to that is, why not?
If you truly believe you play an active role in your personal journey, including the amount of joy and success you experience, you must know that nothing can be achieved without a vision. More than that, the vision has to be believed first, in order to see it. You don’t start training for a marathon if you don’t believe you actually can run it, do you?
And one of the best ways to bring your visualizations to life, is to create a vision board. And trust me dear friends, they work. I know they work because I’ve experienced results first-hand.
“The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience, and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe.” The Secret.
For example, since earning my yoga teaching years a go, I longed to open my own studio. So much, that I met with various owners, and nearly entered a partnership with one. Long story short, nothing really came about. It was like I was trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
But instead of fighting it or asking WHY a million times over – I let it go, and kept my vision alive by posting photos, book-marking sites and traveling to other countries to get a taste for what’s out there.
Fast forward months later, and I’m proud to say I’m currently working my tale off to open not one, but two studios. It’s like they landed on my lap, no questions asked. And while somewhat over-whelming (from permits to renovations!), I can honestly say they feel right – like really, right.
Whereas before, I was forcing the idea – heck, I wouldn’t sleep at night sometimes, hoping this deal or that partnership would work out. Today, I’m no longer stressing. I asked, and the universe responded when it knew I was ready.
So here I am, once again putting my board of dreams out there for the receiving!
A few hours and some cut-out magazines later, I’m proud to say my new and improved vision board is alive and thriving. It’s mounted on the wall just outside my kitchen and something I look at multiple times a day. My kids see it too – as there’s no way of entering or leaving the kitchen without seeing it – either knowingly or in our peripheral. This is a key component! You have to mount your board where you can see it as often as possible.
On mine, I’ve posted everything from happy family memories and business goals, to photos of people I admire and travel destinations I hope to visit one day soon. Weeks in, and it’s already working too.
Take this quote I posted: “Se non hai mai pianto, i tuoi occhi non possono essere belli…”
Now that my eldest son speaks fluent Italian (thanks to his European-based race car career), I’ve been contemplating learning this beautiful language. So up this quote went from Sophia Loren, someone I’ve admired for years.
Within days of posting it, I ran into someone who teaches Italian at my local grocery store, and I’m happy to say, this Mama is about to become a student once again!
If that’s not sweet enough, my daughter Ava keeps a board now too. She has posted various awards she has received, along with design ideas for her budding fashion career. Seems the apple doesn’t fall from the tree! I’m proud.
If you’re ready to embark on your own board, I have one last piece on this to share: Along with posting visuals, try to capture the feelings you want to attract in your life. Such as joy, grace, peace, security, love. By doing so, each time you look at your board, you’ll automatically go to these emotions, as if escaping for just a minute or two.
While a photo of a diamond ring or a five-star luxury vacation spot are both lovely, try to detach from the material and be open to the emotional. That is, you may or may not get the ring, but you’re sure as heck will be rewarded for keeping the vision alive in the meantime.
