Despite getting older in my years, I can honestly say I love (love) being in my forties. I have a better sense of who I am, and who I want to be. And this includes keeping a youthful appearance however long I can. Wrinkles are fine, just not a face-full if I can avoid such.
From lasers to injectables, I’ve dabbled here and there. While effective, I’ve been contemplating other options. Constantly reading about the ‘latest and greatest’ treatments, not to mention seeing a slew of Hollywood stars who, despite getting older – are showing little to no signs of such. They’re actually looking better! What’s their secret?
Enter the 10-Minute Face lift.
Now I’m not saying this is what the stars are getting, but I’ll wager it’s pretty darn close. And after seeing it performed live by Dr. Julius Few during the Goop Wellness Day, the results were noticeably impressive. Always the detective (who me?), I contacted Dr. Few to learn more about this procedure also known as the ‘Silhouette InstaLift’.
Here’s what I learned:
Q: For those not familiar with the ’10-Minute’ thread lift, can you briefly explain what it is, and what specific areas of the face or signs of aging it works best for?
A: The Silhouette InstaLift is a minimally-invasive solution for men and women who are interested in refreshing their appearance without major surgery, injections or lasers. The treatment uses a patented biodegradable, bi-directional suture with cones that’s placed in the fat layer just beneath the skin where lifting is desired.
As most of us know, sagging facial skin is one of the major contributors to an aged and tired-looking appearance. By lifting the deeper layers of the skin, you can achieve a more youthful look. This is precisely what the Silhouette InstaLift does, and why it typically works best on those with moderate sagging skin in the mid-face.
Q: Approximately how long do the results last for?
A: The effects can be seen immediately and results continue to improve over time as the sutures stimulate collagen production. Results typically last 18 months or longer.
Q: For many of us, Botox and/or fillers have been easy ‘go-tos’. Fast, easy and no down-time. Does a lift like this replace the need for such treatments?
A: It definitely provides a minimally invasive solution, especially for those who want to avoid the traditional facelift or deal with the ongoing costs and maintenance required with injectables. That’s not to say the InstaLift is a replacement mind-you. More often, we can achieve a greater synergy incorporating injectables in certain patients, including those who have significant loss of facial volume or heavy wrinkles.
Q: So often we read about the “latest, best treatments” for aging, sagging skin. Do you see this lift as something with lasting power? Will more doctors offer it?
A: Yes for sure. There’s really no other treatment like it requiring no anesthesia, with no scarring or recovery time. Precisely what most people are looking for and want most: Results without the hassle of taking time off work or dipping into their life savings. As more of us doctors continue learning and sharing our success, I believe it will indeed become more popular and widely available.
Q: How much does the treatment cost, and what’s the healing/down-time like?
A: The treatment typically takes 30 minutes. Patients can return to most of their regular activities immediately after the treatment. Where cost is concerned, it varies by geographic region and number of sutures to be used. On average, the fee for Silhouette InstaLift is $3,500. Compare this to the average cost of a facelift which is $12,000.
Q: For those concerned about looking ‘too lifted’ or ‘done’ you say…
A: While results are immediately visible, they look subtle and natural. No one wants the “pulled look” and Silhouette is ideal to avoid such.
The Gorgie take: While promising as this procedure may be, I haven’t signed-up quite yet. But you can sure as hell believe I’m thinking about it.
